A battling performance on a hard, bumpy pitch at Charing Heath saw Charing U16s take all three points against a tough New Romney side.

As in previous games, Charing went into the game knowing it would be a tough battle and so it proved.

In the first half, Charing had most of the possession and created a number of chances all of which were just wide of the target. Evan, Shep and Josh all came close as the first half ended goalless.

Again, in the second half, Charing were in total control, with Bobby marshalling the back four brilliantly and limiting New Romney to just a couple of long range efforts.

The decisive goal came midway through the second half, Bobby finding Evan in the New Romney box with a clever free kick, who shot past the NR keeper.
Charing were unlucky not to extend their lead to make the score more comfortable, two close efforts being cleared off the line.

Superb battling team performance from the Charing boys who rightly deserved to take the three points.

When analysing results, the boys have been really unlucky and have only lost games this season by the odd goal (with the exception of two poor games at Headcorn & Mersham).
Hopefully with this deserved win, it will give the boys confidence going into the last 4 games of the season.

Coaches MOM - Evan Rolfe: playing as “lone” striker following the change of formation to 5 across the midfield, Evan worked tirelessly up front and deserved his goal to win the game.

Parents MOM - Rudi McNeil: has put in some great performances over the last few weeks.
